Coalition for Jewish Values Statement on U.S.–Israel Military Action Against Iran

The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV) commends President Donald J. Trump for taking bold military action against the Iranian regime, and for the unprecedented level of coordination demonstrated in this joint action by the United States and Israel. This moment reflects a historic partnership between two nations bound by shared values and a shared commitment to defending innocent life against murderous tyranny.

For more than four decades, Iran’s radical regime has been the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, with nuclear ambitions that threaten the entire world. Its leaders have openly called for “Death to Israel” and “Death to America,” armed and funded proxies such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis, and orchestrated violence that has claimed the lives of Americans, Israelis, and countless others. Iran has repeatedly targeted civilians, including the hundreds of ballistic missiles it launched at Israel last year and again today. The regime has also brutalized its own people, massacring tens of thousands who dared to demand basic human rights. That is why the fall of the Ayatollah was met with celebration not only across the free world, but even in the streets of Tehran.

The Jewish community recently celebrated the holiday of Purim, when the Jewish people were saved from destruction in Persia nearly 2,400 years ago. Our Sages teach that the heartfelt prayers of men, women, and children were central to that miraculous deliverance. In this season, when prayer carries special power, we pray for God to protect our community and all those targeted by the Iranian regime. May He grant strength to those fighting terror, comfort to those living under threat, and blessing to all who pursue justice and peace.
