Big Digital Energy Announces Texas AI Data Center Joint Venture

Big Digital Energy has announced plans to develop a large-scale artificial intelligence data center campus in Hood County, Texas, through a new joint venture with energy infrastructure company 10NetZero. The project would leverage existing power infrastructure to accelerate deployment for AI and high-performance computing customers.

What are the companies planning?

The companies plan to redevelop the property into a large-scale data center campus designed to serve artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) customers.

Big Digital also announced it has retained Northland Capital Markets as its financial advisor to evaluate financing opportunities and partnerships related to its AI infrastructure strategy.

Why is the Hood County site important?

The approximately 50-acre site already has existing infrastructure that could significantly shorten development timelines compared to building a new facility from scratch.

According to the company, the site includes:

• Approximately 30,000 square feet of existing building to be repurposed into data center space.
• An administrative office that will serve as the site's command center.
• 17 megawatts (MW) of operational electricity capacity.
• Expansion potential to 111 MW of grid power, subject to ERCOT validation.
• Two 12-inch and one 20-inch natural gas pipelines capable of supporting behind-the-meter power generation.

Chief Operating Officer Cody Smith said the existing power infrastructure would allow the company to deliver capacity to AI customers years earlier than a comparable greenfield development.

The companies say those energy resources could ultimately support up to 311 MW of operating capacity.

How does this fit into Big Digital's strategy?

The acquisition would increase Big Digital's operational capacity from 129 MW to 146 MW while expanding its portfolio beyond digital asset mining into AI and high-performance computing infrastructure.

The company said it continues to evaluate additional expansion opportunities across its existing powered land portfolio as demand for AI computing continues to grow.
