August Pfluger
Representative August Pfluger (R-TX) is continuing work with his co-founded Congressional Free Enterprise Caucus, a bipartisan effort to focus on policy to bolster economic growth, strengthen free markets and promote fiscal responsibility.
Rep. Pfluger and Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA) officially launched the caucus earlier this week in an interview with Fox News, stressing the importance of bipartisan efforts to find common ground on free enterprise policies.
“America is the home of innovation, of prosperity and ingenuity,” Rep. Pfluger said. “And free enterprise is not owned by one party or another. It shouldn’t be owned by one party or another. We should come together to pass legislation.”
Rep. Pfluger also nodded to his co-founder Rep. Lou Correa, adding that the two had been talking about the idea for quite some time.
“It’s awesome to work with Lou Carrea, who’s my friend and somebody that is a man of integrity, so it’s natural for us to come together,” Rep. Pfluger said.
Rep. Carrea said restoring free enterprise is a personal issue to him, as the son of immigrants who came to America in search of opportunity.
“The promise was, you work hard, you save up, you can buy a house, you can send your kids to college and you can retire,” he said.
But Rep. Carrea said this system is currently “broken,” making it more difficult for younger generations to afford a home or even find a job.
“What we've got to do is get back to basics and make sure the American free enterprise system works again for everybody,” Rep. Carrea said.
Rep. Pfluger said this is exactly what the Free Enterprise Caucus will continue to strive for in a bipartisan effort to ensure more Americans can achieve the American Dream.
“In this day and age, where you have a lot of polarization, this is an issue that we all care about,” Rep. Pfluger said. “We want to see people live the American Dream, and I’m proud to work with Democrats on this so that our country can succeed.”
