GameChange Energy Selected for Texas Solar Projects Powering Meta Data Centers

GameChange Energy will supply its Genius Tracker solar tracking systems for two utility-scale Texas solar projects totaling approximately 286 megawatts that will provide renewable energy to Meta under a long-term power agreement.

Two Texas solar projects announced

GameChange Energy announced its Genius Tracker solar tracker systems have been selected for the Pepper and Lucky 7 utility-scale solar projects in Texas.

The projects, developed by Sabanci Renewables, will add approximately 286 megawatts direct current (MWdc) of new solar generation capacity.

Both projects are expected to begin commercial operations during the second half of 2027.

Supporting Meta's growing energy needs

The Pepper and Lucky 7 projects will supply renewable electricity to Meta under a long-term power purchase agreement.

The projects are intended to help meet the increasing electricity demand created by Meta's expanding network of hyperscale data centers, which support artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure.

Growing demand from AI infrastructure

GameChange Energy noted that AI and cloud computing have made data centers one of the fastest-growing sources of electricty demand in the United States.

Across Texas and other major markets, developers are increasingly pairing utility-scale renewable energy projects with long-term power agreements to support the rapid expansion of digital infrastructure.

GameChange highlights Texas growth

GameChange Energy CEO Phillip Vyhanek said the projects reflect the changing landscape of electricity generation.

CEO Phillip Vyhanek: "We're proud that Genius Tracker was selected for the Pepper and Lucky 7 projects, which demonstrate how utility-scale solar can help support the enormous energy requirements of modern digital infrastructure. We believe this represents just the beginning of a significant growth opportunity as developers and hyperscale customers continue investing in new renewable energy projects."

The Bottom line

GameChange Energy will provide its Genius Tracker technology for two Texas solar projects totaling 286 MWdc that will supply renewable energy to Meta's growing data center operations, highlighting the increasing connection between utility-scale solar development and the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure.
