Texas Republicans Gather for 'Red River Roll Call', Hosted By Rep. Shelley Luther (TX-62)

Texas Republicans gathered in Sherman Monday night for the "Red River Roll Call" hosted by Rep. Shelley Luther (TX-62) to discuss Texas GOP priorities and support the North Texas representative.

Who attended the event?

Prominent Texas Republicans such as Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and AG Ken Paxton attended the rally. Other important figures such as Speaker Dustin Burrows, Rep. Brandon Gill, and Rep. Pat Fallon, attended.

What are people saying?

  • Gov. Abbott: “There is no one in the capitol who has as much passion for her constituents as Shelley Luther."
  • Rep. Luther: “You have to do a lot of work to prove to people that you want what's best for Texas.”

The 'Red River Roll Call' was the biggest Republican rally ever held in Grayson County, an area near the Texas-Oklahoma border.

Texas leaders discussed pressing topics such as the battle over data centers and the U.S. Senate race, where nearly every speaker took aim at Democratic nominee James Talarico.

“There's going to be hundreds of millions of dollars that are spent trying to turn Texas blue, and they are counting on rural Texas being asleep at the wheel," said Speaker Burrows at the rally.

Hundreds of people attended the event, including multiple prominent Republican leaders and candidates. Gov. Abbott praised Rep. Luther and urged supporters to re-elect her.

The Governor also advocated for more property tax relief and more support securing the southern border.

The rally, which was the first major Republican gathering since the Republic National Convention in June, reflects the Texas GOP's continued efforts to keep Texas from turning blue in November.
