Pete Sessions Launches Bipartisan Push to Boost Veteran Support

Representative Pete Sessions (R-TX) is launching a bipartisan congressional caucus to tackle the housing and financial challenges that military members and families continue to face.

The Military and Veteran Housing Caucus (MVHC) will focus on advancing policies that promote financial readiness, post-military transition, homeownership, economic mobility and housing stability for servicemembers, veterans and military families.

As one of the caucus’ co-chairs, Rep. Sessions said the lawmakers will target some of the most pressing areas of veteran needs.

“Together, we will work across committee jurisdictions to increase awareness of existing benefits, including the VA Home Loan Program, and develop policies that ensure those who have served our nation have every opportunity to build lasting economic security and achieve the American Dream,” Rep. Sessions said.

Rep. Sessions said one of the caucus' main priorities will be to address the unique housing and financial challenges faced by the military-connected community.

Vice Chair and Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) said frequent relocations, credit challenges and limited awareness of earned benefits can especially hinder veteran homeownership and financial security.

“Owning a home remains a cornerstone of the American Dream,” Rep. Ciscomani said. “And for our military families, it represents stability after years of sacrifice and service to our nation.”

Rep. Sessions emphasized that the caucus’ leadership team intentionally includes lawmakers from both ends of the aisle.

“This bipartisan leadership team reflects our shared commitment to advancing practical solutions that strengthen financial readiness, expand access to homeownership, improve military-to-civilian transitions and address the unique housing challenges facing servicemembers, veterans and military families,” Rep. Sessions said.

Rep. Sessions said Congress must act to better support its servicemembers and veterans.

“America’s servicemembers and veterans have answered the call to serve our nation,” he said. “And Congress has a responsibility to ensure they have every opportunity to achieve lasting financial security and homeownership.”
