Apex Clean Energy and Meta signed a power purchase agreement for environmental attributes from the 144 MW Starling Solar project in Gonzales County, Texas, with the project expected to begin operations in 2027.
Apex Clean Energy announced a power purchase agreement with Meta for exclusive rights to the environmental attributes associated with energy from Starling Solar, including renewable energy credits. The 144 MW project is expected to add new generation to the local grid and is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2027.
Starling Solar is the seventh transaction between Apex and Meta. Their combined portfolio spans Texas, Virginia, Illinois, Kansas, and Iowa and totals approximately 1,200 MW.
CEO of Apex, Ken Young: "Seven projects over nearly as many years speaks to a partnership built on shared principles of responsible building and disciplined execution. Starling brings new capacity to Texas and lasting value to Gonzales County long after construction wraps."
Apex says Starling Solar is expected to generate approximately $27 million in tax revenue over its lifetime, including $15.6 million for local schools. The project is also projected to provide more than $26.3 million in landowner payments, create 400 450 construction jobs, and provide nearly $400,000 in grants for local organizations and conservation initiatives.
Meta's head of clean and renewable energy, Amanda Yang: "The best clean energy projects are the ones the surrounding community feels the benefit of directly - in school funding, in landowner payments, in local hiring."
The Starling Solar agreement expands Apex and Meta's clean-energy partnership while bringing a planned 144 MW solar project and projected economic benefits to Gonzales County.
