Christian Menefee's Office Closes More Than 500 Constituent Cases Since Taking Office

Representative Christian Menefee (D) announced that his congressional casework team has closed more than 500 constituent cases during his first eight months in office, recovering more than $1 million in eligible or delayed funds for residents of Texas' 18th Congressional District.

How many constituent cases has Menefee's office closed?

Rep. Menefee's office said its casework team has closed more than 500 of the nearly 1,000 constituent cases opened since he took office in February.

The cases have involved federal agencies and programs including immigration, expedited passports, Veterans' benefits, Social Security, Medicare, the Department of Education, the IRS, the Office of Personnel Management and the U.S. Postal Service.

Menefee was sworn into Congress on February 2 after TX-18 went 334 days without representation following the death of former Rep. Sylvester Turner (D).

How much money has been recovered for constituents?

According to Menefee's office, the casework has recovered more than $1 million in eligible and/or delayed funds for constituents.

The office said the milestone reflects its efforts to help residents navigate federal agencies and resolve issues involving benefits, payments, and other government services.

Rep. Christan Menefee: "Helping constituents navigate the bureaucracy of the federal government and alleviating their hardships is my top priority. We built this office from the ground up. Every call answered, and every case closed is a step closer to delivering on the promise I made to the people of the 18th."

What other services has the office provided?

Beyond casework, Menefee's office said it has delivered more than 7,000 congressional recognitions throughout the district, honoring people and businesses in TX-18.

Menefee said his office will continue assisting constituents with federal government issues, including Veterans' benefits and visa assistance.

Rep. Christan Menefee: "We're going to keep showing up and helping folks get the help they need."
