Gina Hinojosa Reports $25M Raised as Texas Governor Race Tightens

Democratic Texas gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa (D) said her campaign has raised $25 million ahead of the November 3 election, including $13 million during the latest reporting period and another $3 million over the last 10 days.

Hinojosa's campaign said the latest fundraising brings its total reported haul to $25 million since launching, as recent polls show a competitive race with Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. The campaign said it received more than 248,000 contributions from more than 136,000 unique donors during the latest reporting period, with 74% coming from first-time donors and an average contribution of $53.37.

Recent polling has shown Hinojosa within several percentage points of Abbott. A Marist Poll conducted Sept. 17-20 among 1,139 registered Texas voters found Hinojosa at 49% and Abbott at 46%, a three-point difference within the poll's ±4.4 percentage-point margin of error.

A separate ReconMR Texas Poll of likely voters found Hinojosa leading Abbott 49% to 45%. The poll uses a representative sample of Texas likely voters drawn from a registered-voter database and interviews conducted by telephone.

Hinojosa's campaign said Abbott has spent more than $124 million against her since the beginning of the election cycle. Recent reporting found Abbott raised more than $20 million and spent nearly $70 million during the latest reporting period, while Hinojosa raised $13.3 million and spent $12.1 million during the same period.

"I'm honored to have the support of so many Texans who are ready for change," said Hinojosa. "Since day one, this has been a people-powered campaign focused on ending Greg Abbott's corruption that puts billionaires first and Texans last."

She highlighted issues including public schools, affordability, data centers, and Flock cameras as priorities for her campaign.

The campaign said Hinojosa has traveled throughout Texas to discuss those issues with voters as Election Day approaches.
