Rep. Al Green
When President Donald Trump tangled with Weijia Jiang, CBS News’ White House correspondent after he told he Asian-American reporter to “ask China” the global “competition” she asked him at a recent press conference, it took mere moments for news outlets, political pundits, and Democratic members of Congress to raise the Race flag, calling Trump a racist for asking the reporter to direct her question to the Chinese government.
Texas Rep. Al Green (D), who was the first member of the House to call for the impeachment of the president, tweeted that Trump had “once again” fueled or “propagated his legacy of unrepentant bigotry.”
Green also posed the question, “When will bigotry become a breaking point for those who continue to support an unfit president?”
In reviews the video of the tense exchange between the president and the reporter, there didn’t’ appear to be any hint of bigoted.
We can only assume that the president told the reporter to “ask China” because the COVID-19 virus originated in China and now the Chinese government has been found to have tried to cover-up the real extent of the spread of the virus.
Both the U.S. and German intelligence agencies have confirmed the Chinese conspiracy to hide the coronavirus spread in China.
Here is the exchange between Trump and the CBS News reporter:
Jing: You said many times that the U.S. is doing better than any other country when it comes to testing. Why does that matter? Why is this a global competition to you if everyday Americans are losing their lives and we are still seeing more cases every day?
Trump: Well, they’re losing their lives everywhere in the world, and maybe that’s a question you should ask China. Don’t ask me, ask China that question. When you ask them that question, you may get an unusual answer.”
Jing: So why are you saying that to me, specifically?
Trump: I'm telling you. I'm not saying it specifically to anybody. I'm saying it to anybody that asks a nasty question.
Jing: That's not a nasty question. Why does it matter?"
Trump shut the press conference down shortly after the exchange.
