Congresswoman-elect Beth Van Duyne (R) has taken a not-so-subtle shot at Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the founder of the Progressive "Squad" in the House, and may have started a water war.
After Rep. Ocasio-Cortez posted a complaint-tweet about how she feels Republicans have made fun of her for being a waitress, the message was countered by the Texas taco-loving Van Duyne.
"Republicans like to make fun of the fact that I used to be a waitress, but we all know if they ever had to do a double they’d be the ones found crying in the walk-in fridge halfway through their first shift bc someone yelled at them for bringing seltzer when they wanted sparkling," tweeted AOC.
Van Duyne responded to the sophmore congresswoman with her own story about being a waitress many moons ago, and advised AOC that come January, her new office will be in the Longworth congressional building, and suggested that she preferred "sparkling water."
"I used to work a double as a waitress then wake up at dawn to answer phones at a car dealership so you can bet I won’t be the one crying in the fridge this session. And by the way, I prefer sparkling water - you can bring it to 1337 LHOB in January," tweeted Van Duyne
No word yet on whether AOC will be strapping on another apron and serving Van Duyne her sparkling water table side.
Could this water war be the beginning of a long and "loving" relationship between the two legislators. We sure hope so.
