Allen West, Texas GOP are sprinting past 'delusional' Texas Democratic Party

When you try to compare the Texas Republican Party with the Texas Democratic Party, there isn’t much to compare when it comes to online presence and overall excitement from their base of support. It’s like comparing Lucchese or Ariat boots to that off brand or knock-off pair of boots you find down at the bottom of the shelf.

The Texas GOP, which is led by former Congressman Allen West, has put their big boy pants and Ariat’s on and is challenging both “moderate Republicans” and state Democrats in hopes to grow Texas “redder and stronger,” as  West states.

Texas Democrats are relishing in President Joe Biden’s inauguration, and they should be. A win is a win, and they have high hopes for the Biden Administration.

But during the 2020 presidential election, Texas Democrats suffered many heartbreaking defeats to Republicans, including a couple of congressional races they were in a position to pick up, in particular, the  Dallas area open seat that Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R) won.

In taking a closer look at the Democratic Party’s social media presence, and outside of retweeting President Biden or other national Democrats,  there is not much going on with the party. Now, the group may be working behind the scenes to "paint Texas blue," but we're not seeing it.

Texas Democrat did put out a press release announcing that two of its staffers were leaving the party to explore "new possibilities in the progressive movement."

TexasPolitics.com  reached out to Chairman Gilbert Hinojosa for comment but was not able to reach him, and no one has returned our calls.

We did also reach out to Chairman West and we asked him to give us an assessment of what his political party was doing in comparison to what Hinojosa’s party was doing.

“When I look at the Texas Democrat Party, they are delusional,” said West. “I don’t know what their focus is."

West pointed to Hinojosa and the Texas Democratic Party’s recent call for Republican members of Congress, including Sen. Ted Cruz, to resign for their support in opposing then-President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral votes.

“I see the Texas Democrat Party out there trying to get 22 of our GOP members of Congress to resign. You got to be kidding me,” stated West, and added that the Texas GOP was “focused on defeating them at every single level around the state.”

West said he is laser-focused on the upcoming May statewide municipal elections and is also working on reminding existing Republican state legislators that running on Conservative principles and values is what got them elected.
