In a scene fit for the Daytona 500, itself, Democrats have been taking several victory laps following President Joe Biden’s (D) State of the Union address. When Pres. Biden wasn’t jarring with hecklers and taking thinly-veiled shots at Republicans, he spent most of his speech touching on many topics that the Left has championed throughout his campaign. Democrats, taking pleasure in the president’s messaging, have taken to Twitter to share their satisfaction with the commander-in-chief’s address.
Texas Representative Sylvia Garcia (D) stated, “The soul of this nation is strong, because the backbone of this nation is strong because the people of this nation are strong, the State of the Union is strong.”
“As we heard from the State of the Union Address, @POTUS has delivered for working families. Our economic plan is working. We have a strong leader in the White House and the backing of the American People," stated Rep. Garcia.
“I stand with the Ukrainian people as they continue to defend themselves and their democracy from Vladimir Putin's unprovoked invasion. Glad to see @POTUS committed to upholding our democratic values and working with our allies and partners to support Ukraine,” tweeted Texas Representative Joaquin Castro (D).
Democrats weren’t the only ones admitting Biden’s success. “
Every, single theme that the Democratic party stands for, he landed on. Good for him,” said Texas Representative Pete Sessions (R). It’s worth mentioning that Rep. Sessions’s statements were peppered with sarcasm and a dose of skepticism, but there was truth in the congressman's statement, nonetheless. Biden following his itinerary and standing tall gave the Left the talking points that they desired. Furthermore, his speech has come at an opportune time for himself and the Democratic party.
Chinese spy balloons, border security, as well as the similar issue of asylum-seeking migrants, have been dominating the news, recently.
However, it appears that Democratst are trying to spin the narrative in a direction that favors the president. State of the Union addresses, successful or not, come once a year, but it is important to remember that accountability, legislation and action still matter on the other 364 days, as well.
