Crenshaw Tells AMLO ‘Listen to Citizens’

Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) took to social media this week to further criticize Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO). AMLO and Crenshaw have been involved in an ongoing feud since a Mexican cartel kidnapped four Americans, killing two. Crenshaw, in response, is calling on AMLO to “listen to his citizens.”

Crenshaw shared a video of Mexican Senator Damian Zepeda Vidales, sounding off on AMLO and the cartels that are threatening the country.

In turn, Crenshaw expanded on the Mexican lawmaker’s words, sharing that his office has received numerous calls from Mexican citizens “about the importance of stopping the cartels.”

“We can’t let the President of Mexico intimidate us into silence or further inaction,” Crenshaw said, adding that AMLO “is on the wrong side of history.”

“The United States and Mexico must be partners in combatting the cartels because they’re a common enemy,” Crenshaw affirmed, urging AMLO to “listen to his citizens and work *with* the United States to stop the drug cartels from killing Mexicans and Americans.

Florida Rep. Mike Waltz (R), who introduced a bill that would allow military use to push back against the cartel, questioned U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley this week during a hearing.

“Would it be helpful to authorize military resources, to authorize use of military force, and again we are talking cyber, space intel and other resources, to support law enforcement, support the Mexican government and to take out these cartels?” he asked.

Discussing the threat that the cartels pose to both countries, Waltz argued that “we need to treat them more like ISIS than the mafia because that is how they are behaving as they destabilize our border, huge portions of Mexico and stand to-to-toe with the Mexican army.”
