Trump’s Court Date Set day Before Super Tuesday

After recently turning himself in to be booked in the Fulton County jail, former president Donald Trump’s (R) court date has been set for March 4, 2024.

The trial date comes right before what’s known as Super Tuesday — a crucial date when the largest number of U.S. states hold primary elections and caucuses for the presidential election.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who set the court date, stated that the trial’s time is not dictated by Trump’s outside plans.

“I want to note here that setting a trial date does not depend and should not depend on the defendant’s personal or professional obligations,” said Chutkan.

Previously, Trump expressed a desire for the court date to be pushed back until after the 2024 presidential election. However, he will now face a much earlier date at an important time in the election cycle.

The court date has received mixed reactions with Trump lawyer John Lauro stating that the date didn’t give enough time to review the case.

Yet, prosecutor Molly Gaston expressed her desire to give the public the speedy trial she believes they want.

Of course, Trump is not alone in his facing of charges.

Recently, Rudy Giuliani, lawyer to former president Donald Trump (R), was booked at the Fulton County jail.

The former New York mayor’s bond was set at $150,000, $50,000 less than Trump.

The case has been polarizing for Americans. Moreover, Trump is currently in the midst of his fourth indictment.

After Giuliani was booked, he stated that he was honored to be a part of the case involving charges of attempting to overturn an election.

“This indictment is a travesty. It’s an attack on -- not just me, not just President Trump, not just the people in this indictment, some of whom I don’t even know – this is an attack on the American people,” said Guiliani.

Giuliani is one of 19 defendants who were charged in Georgia.
