Van Duyne Says ‘Walls Work, Borders Work’

Texas Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R) continues to take issue with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador for the border crisis. Similarly, Rep. Van Duyne places blame on President Joe Biden (D) for not employing stricter border security. In an effort to curb both illegal immigration and the flow of fentanyl, Van Duyne suggests that “walls work, borders work” to address the issues.

During an interview with NewsMax this week, Van Duyne discussed growing border issues that she feels are not being addressed by either the Biden administration or the Obrador administration.

“We’re seeing all these people come through Mexico from Isis hit lists, from terrorist watch lists, they’re coming in from their cartels that reside in Mexico right now, we see them coming in by millions into our border… I guess it would be different if they were partnering with us on this to keep the flow from coming through our border… if they were working with us on preventing the fentanyl flow that’s coming out of China,” Van Duyne warned.

Delving into the fentanyl issue, she further commented that she has visited the border and also spoken to President Obrador. Given that fentanyl is killing Americans, she lamented that, when discussing the issue, President Obrador directs blame at the “parents of American kids for not being good enough parents.”

Sharing a segment of the NewsMax interview on social media, Van Duyne further criticized Mexico’s government, saying that it “refuses to work with us to stop the cartels, mass illegal immigration, and deadly flow of fentanyl – the Mexican President blames all the problems on Americans. It wasn’t this way just a few years ago when we had President Trump, who refused to let Mexican cartels and the Mexican government abuse our country.”

For the Texas Republican, “Walls work, borders work,” and she would like to see both administrations employ stricter border security.
