Crenshaw Suggests Americans ‘Delete TikTok’

A letter written by Osama bin Laden titled “Letter to America” has resurfaced, generating controversy. Numerous TikTok users have shared videos of themselves, expressing sympathy over the letter. This has sparked a response from lawmakers, denouncing the videos and the social media site. Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) denounced both, calling on users to “delete TikTok.”

Republicans have had a long-reported feud with TikTok.

Under President Donald Trump (R), there were threats of the U.S. banning the social media site, but the efforts were to no avail.

Earlier this year, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) called on TikTok’s CEO to be investigated for perjury, admitting that there was evidence “that some sensitive data from American users was…stored in China, where, by law, that information could be accessed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).”

As tension continues to grow between China and the U.S., TikTok is involved in yet another controversy that could push lawmakers to ban the social media site.

Users have begun to share their sympathy over bin Laden’s “Letter to America,” which details why he attacked the United States. In reading it, users have shared that it has made them reevaluate their geopolitical views.

In response to the new social media trend, Crenshaw took to X to share his concern.

“Two major problems here,” Crenshaw points out, writing that “there are a scary number of dumba**es who think bin Laden’s letter justifying 9/11 is inspiration.”

“You have a Chinese-run social media platform spreading content created by the aforementioned dumba**es,” he further wrote, suggesting that “you can’t delete dumba**es, but you can delete TikTok.”

He called the move “long overdue.”

President Joe Biden (D) and Paramount Leader Xi Jinping met this week at the APEC Summit, and both countries shared that they wanted to continue working together as best as they could.
