Giuliani Ordered to Pay $148 Million to Georgia Election Workers

Former New York City Mayor and lawyer to former president Donald Trump (R), Rudy Giuliani, was ordered to pay $148 million to two Georgia election workers. Giuliani was accused of defamation by the two workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss.

The former mayor was convicted of making false statements that Freeman and Moss had tampered with votes by stuffing ballots. Furthermore, Giuliani claimed that the two workers used a USB drive in an attempt to rig the 2020 presidential election. The drive that Giuliani claimed to see turned out to be a mint.

“Today is a good day. A jury stood witness to what Rudy Giuliani did to me and my daughter and held him accountable, and for that I’m thankful. Today is not the end of the road. We still have work to do,” said Freeman as she stood outside the courthouse.

Moss, who, along with her mother, has faced a barrage of lies, shared her reaction to the verdict.

“I spent 10 years as an election worker in Fulton County, Georgia. The lies Rudy Giuliani told about me and my mommy after the 2020 presidential election have changed our lives and the past few years has been devastating.”

Several of the messages the two received were threatening in nature. Many of the violent threats were rooted in baseless conspiracy theories floated by Giuliani.

"They are coming for you. I’m not far behind. I’m coming for you also. Trash will be taken to the street in bags,” one of the messages read.

“I took it as though they were going to cut me up and put me into trash bags and take it out to my street,” Freeman testified.

The former lawyer has stated that he will appeal the ruling.

“Certainly, we’ll appeal. The absurdity of the number merely underscores the absurdity of the entire proceeding.”

“I am quite confident when this case gets before a fair tribunal, it will be reversed so quickly it will make your head spin,” continued Guiliani.

Giuliani already owes over $1 million to Freeman, Moss and his attorneys.
