Cruz Blasts Biden for Deliberately Opening Border With Mexico

WASHINGTON—Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently spoke to Texas Politics, where he answered questions regarding the possible border security measure that Senator James Lankford (R-OK) was currently working on.

In a leak, the bill was rumored to allow 5,000 migrants into the United States a day. Sen. Lankford has denied the legitimacy of that leak.

However, Sen. Cruz said that he has “very serious concerns” regarding what he’s heard about the deal.

“I have not seen the text,” said Sen. Cruz. “So I will withhold final judgment until I actually see the text of it, but I've very serious concerns with how it’s been described.”

Furthermore, he was asked about Democrats calling on Republicans to pass immigration reform policies despite the GOP passing HR 2 in May. Cruz called this prospect “utterly absurd.”

“It is utterly absurd. Joe Biden inherited the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years. And he deliberately opened our southern border. That was a decision from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and the Democrats. And the consequences have been devastating,” said the Texas senator.

He continued, “Biden could solve this problem tomorrow. It was a unilateral decision on his part. There were three decisions that caused this crisis. He immediately halted construction on the wall, he reinstated the failed policy of catch and release, and he pulled out of the incredibly successful remain-in-Mexico agreement. That caused the crisis at our southern border.”

Finally, Cruz concluded with an impassioned diatribe toward the Democrats and their approach to illegal immigration. He believes the left side of the aisle has neglected the southern border for partisan gains.

"Biden could fix it tomorrow. He doesn’t want to. Joe Biden and the Democrats want 10 million people invading this country because they believe those illegal immigrants will vote Democrat, and they’re willing to overlook the dead bodies, the children being brutalized, the women being raped, the 100,000 Americans who died of drug overdoses,” said Cruz. “For too many Democrats, all of those are acceptable costs to try to gain a partisan political advantage. It is cynical, and it is twisted. And it is just wrong, what they’re doing at the border."

Senator Ted Cruz has been Texas’ junior senator since 2013.

Furthermore, Representative Pete Sessions (R-TX) spoke on how the Republican Conference plans to tackle the immigration crisis and how high of a priority the border is to them.

“So, the discussion that I and my colleagues are having up here this week is, how important it is, that no matter what budget deal we come up with in Washington to fund the government for 2024, it includes answers about the borders, not just Texas.” said Sessions. “It’s national security, and it’s all 50 states.”

In an appearance on CNN, Sessions discussed whether he would be willing to stop aid to Ukraine in order to provide funding for solutions to the migrant crisis.

“The answer is: Russia is a pack of thugs. And it is in America’s best interest that we have Ukraine get our resources, get our front-line opportunities, whether it be F-16s – I didn’t say American pilots, but we use our intelligence and that we send Russia home if we don’t defeat them. But, would I actually vote against the full package that’s in February if we do not get something on the border, that answer is yes.”

This is a developing story.
