Senator Ted Cruz
After a stellar performance in the Iowa Caucus, former President Donald Trump (R) has won the endorsement of US Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).
President Trump was declared the winner within the first hour of vote counting in the Iowa Caucus. Winning 98 counties and carrying 51% of the vote helped the president best Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) who placed in second by roughly 30 percent.
Iowa is crucial for the primary season, as it is the first state in the Union to vote in primaries with its unique way of voting. The American tradition is seen as an indicator of who will most likely go on to be the nominee of the party. Back in 2016, Ted Cruz actually beat Donald Trump in the Iowa Caucus by just over 3%.
On an appearance last night with Sean Hannity, Cruz voiced his support for Trump after the former president won Iowa by a blow out. "[Iowa] was a dominating victory for Donald Trump: I've got to say, there's no place like the Iowa caucuses. I know it intimately. The men and women of Iowa, they take their responsibility incredibly seriously. They scrutinize the candidates," Cruz said.
Cruz accused the Biden administration of being Marxist and made his endorsement official on Fox News when he stated, "I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president of the United States. I look forward to supporting him enthusiastically."
Trump's win in Iowa has been crucial for the progression of the primary season. So far, high profile politicians like Cruz and former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R) have called the race for Trump. Along with Vivek Ramaswamy pulling out of the race, it is Trump's game to lose.
