New Electric Air Taxi Charging Network Planned for Texas

America's Consortium for Electric Skyways (ACES) announced plans to expand its interoperable electric aviation charging network into Texas as the state prepares for electric air taxi operations under the While House's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program.

The consortium, launched by Archer Aviation, BETA Technologies and Macquarie Capital, aims to electrify up to 250 air taxi sites across major airports and metropolitan areas nationwide over the next decade. In Texas, ACES plans to work with the Texas Department of Transportation and state and local partners to identify locations where eVTOL operators are expected to fly and build charging infrastructure accordingly.

TxDOT has been selected for the federal eVTOL pilot program, with initial operations expected to begin in fall or winter 2026. The agency has outlined plans involving Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and rural communities.

"Aircrafts are only useful if you have the infrastructure in place to support them," said Kyle Clark, BETA Technologies founder and CEO. "ACES is about making sure that infrastructure is interoperable, reliable, and ready where operators need it."

Sergio Roman, TxDOT's emerging aviation technology director, said the eIPP program is intended to safely integrate electric aircraft into U.S. airspace while improving connectivity for communities across Texas.

The ACES network is designed around shared chargers that can serve multiple operators rather than separate proprietary systems. The consortium and all-electric air taxi flights by BETA, Archer and other manufacturers are planned in Texas in the coming months.

Archer also recently launched its "No Roads" flight tour to expand testing of its all-electric Midnight aircraft as it prepares for eIPP operations in Texas, Florida, and New York.
