Allred Invites Dallas Regional Chamber CEO and President to Joint Meeting of Congress

For the Joint Meeting of Congress with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Representative Colin Allred (D-TX) invited Dallas Regional Chamber (DRC) CEO and President Dale Petroskey as his guest.

The DRC CEO was invited to “discuss and highlight the strong diplomatic and economic relationship between the United States, specifically Texas, and Japan.”

Moreover, the Texas congressman added that DRC is at least somewhat responsible for the advancement in commerce between Texas and Japan.

“As this historic Joint Meeting of Congress with the Japanese Prime Minister takes place we must remain focused on cooperation and collaboration with Japan which is one of our largest trading partners and sources of foreign direct investment,” said Congressman Allred. “Japanese companies have been locating and investing in Dallas and across Texas for years, helping us create jobs and strengthen our economy. And this growth wouldn’t be possible without groups like the Dallas Regional Chamber, and that’s why I am proud to host Mr. Petroskey in Washington today.”

According to Rep. Allred, Texas accounted for over $18 billion in imports from Japan in 2023. This includes industries such as automotive, electronics, financial services, industrial equipment, information technology, manufacturing, and communications.

Furthermore, Mr. Petroskey appreciated the invite to the Joint Session of Congress.

“The economic and cultural ties between Japan and the U.S., and specifically Texas, are enormous,” said Mr. Petroskey. “That’s why today’s Joint Meeting of Congress with Prime Minister Kishida is so important. As a former Chief of Staff on Capitol Hill, I realize what a special honor it is to be invited to a Joint Meeting of Congress. I appreciate Congressman Allred inviting me to such an important moment that affects the important partnership between the Texas business community and Japan. The Dallas Regional Chamber is excited to continue the important work with Congressman Allred that needs to be done to boost trade and grow our economy.”

Recently, Sen. Cruz described Rep. Allred of being "extremely liberal."

“Let me tell what this election is going to be about: It’s going to be about my record, and it’s going to be about Colin Allred’s record. Colin Allred is an extremely liberal Democrat congressman whose first four years in Congress he voted 100% with Nancy Pelosi,” said Sen. Cruz.

The Texas congressman will square off with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his seat in November. According to the latest Cygnal poll, Cruz has a nine-point lead.
