Weber Predicts VP Harris Would Continue the 'War on Energy' if Elected President

HOUSTON—Representative Randy Weber (R-TX) spoke to Texas Politics regarding his views on Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris (D) and the effects of her time in office (along with the possibility of four more years in the Oval Office) on the oil industry.

We asked the Texas congressman whether VP Harris would continue the war on energy sources like fossil fuels and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Rep. Weber responded that she would do so.

“Now you're watching them start playing to their base. Of course, their base hates fossil fuels. We should be exporting all the LNG that we can. One of the things that they're trying to say is that if we do that, it's going to drive the price of natural gas for LNG up for Americans,” said Rep. Weber. “Well, what other product do we tell companies, you can't export it, you can't sell it wherever you want to because it might cause higher prices? That's called market economy. You let the market set the rates. And these guys would rather have to go and not only set the rates but do away with whatever kinds of product that they don't agree with. You will see Kamala Harris do that.”

He continued by mentioning that the Harris campaign has attempted to campaign on former President Donald Trump’s (R) platform, such as ending taxes on tips for servers and golf caddies and the like.

“She has already come out and said that she's going to do away with the tax on tips. Well, Trump said that June was the last year, and she's just now saying it. You watch Kamala Harris next thing you’re going to see her say is she wants to make America great again. You know, it's unbelievable,” said Rep. Weber.

Furthermore, the Texas congressman attacked Democrats for hitting President Trump with continuous lawfare attempts and questioned the funding that VP Harris is receiving as donors originally contributed their funds to President Joe Biden’s (D) campaign, not hers.

“You saw Trump indicted by a state attorney general in New York who ran on the platform he would get Trump. He indicted him, and they subsequently convicted him for using business money for that $160,000 for a campaign expense. The FEC governs that … here he did that, and they indicted him and convicted him of using that even though they're not a federal agency. FEC governs that stuff. Now comes the Democrats, they take this, I don't even remember what the figures [are], $120 million given to President O’Biden as I call it. And they just, with the stroke of the pen, move it over to Kamala Harris,” said Rep. Weber. “People didn't make checks out to Kamala Harris. They made them out to Joe Biden’s campaign. How do they get away with that? Where is the FEC? Where's the Department of Justice saying, wait a minute, nobody voted for Kamala Harris in the Democratic primaries. She was not on the ticket. Joe Biden, for President of the United States, was in the Democratic primaries it didn't say Biden and Harris, and so you're watching an unprecedented time in American history where you've got people who are totally disregarding the process and trying to make a new way just so they can maintain power, kill our energy industry, and I think, make America a socialist nation.”

Randy Weber represents Texas’ 14th Congressional District.
