Scott Uses Democrat Disapproval of Nehls Illegal Alien Bill to Call Mucarsel-Powell a 'Radical Socialist'

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and his campaign are calling out old colleagues of former Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL) as they voted against HR 7909 – the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act. This bill would deport or turn away illegal immigrants who have been convicted of sex offenses.

158 Democrats voted against the measure. Among those who voted against the legislation were Florida Representatives Maxwell Frost, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Kathy Castor, whom the Scott campaign describes as former Rep. Mucarsel-Powell’s “top surrogates” in Congress.

“This is the latest example of radical socialists like Debbie putting violent criminals who commit heinous crimes ahead of the safety and well-being of American citizens,” the Scott campaign said.

The Squad – Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) voted for the bill as well. Sen. Scott’s campaign also mentioned that Mucarsel-Powell voted with AOC and Omar over 93% of the time.

Furthermore, Scott campaign spokesman, Will Hampson added that Mucarsel-Powell’s track record would give a blueprint as to how Mucarsel-Powell would vote should she be elected to the Senate.

"Debbie Mucarsel-Powell's record is clear so we can only assume that like her best friends AOC, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, she will put illegal aliens ahead of Floridians, even if they are convicted rapists and heinous criminals,” said the Scott campaign spokesman. “Worse still, Debbie's friends in the Squad and her top surrogates not only want to protect these criminals and allow them to stay in our country, but they want to let them vote and give them taxpayer-funded benefits.”

Additionally, Hampson attempted to draw the comparison that the former Florida congresswoman would be “radical” as a member of the upper chamber.

“Debbie’s refusal to condemn this vote shows Floridians that she stands with these radical members of Congress. Floridians will once again reject Debbie because they know she'd rather protect criminals over you and your family,” concluded Hampson.

Representative Troy Nehls (R-TX) – a co-sponsor of the bill (which was originally authored by Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C.) – released a statement after his bill was disapproved by 158 Democrats.

“I’m a proud cosponsor of the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act and proudly voted YES to pass this bill. This bill would deport illegal aliens convicted of a sexual offense or conspiracy to commit such a crime. 158 Democrats just voted against it. Why?” said Rep. Nehls.

The bill will move to the Senate.
