Last week, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) announced that it would be launching a multimillion dollar tv investment in both Florida and Texas. Despite both states being decisively red, the DSCC believes that both states are very much at play. Responding to the financial effort from Democrats in his senate race, Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) warns that they are "trying to destroy America."
In announcing the financial effort against both Senator Cruz and Florida Senator Rick Scott (R), DSCC Chair Gary Peters (D) said that the senators' "damaged standings in their states" was a reason why the DSCC was making the aggressive push.
In Texas, Senator Scott also faces opposition from Republicans as former Wisconsin Rep. Liz Cheney (R) has endorsed Senator Cruz's opponent, Texas Rep. Colin Allred (D), for the Senate.
During an interview with MSNBC, Rep. Cheney, sitting alongside Rep. Allred, praised Senator Cruz's Democratic challenger, saying that Senator Cruz "will say anything if it serves his own political purpose, and the nation is at a moment where we need public servants who are men and women of good will, who are men and women who will do the right thing." "The choice for the people of Texas is a very clear one," she added.
In response to the effort against him, Senator Cruz pushed back against the financial effort against him warning that Rep. Cheney and the Democrats are just "people trying to destroy America."
During an interview with Fox News, Senator Cruz commented that his opposers are "pissed off that I'm standing in their way, but they're flooding cash in my race. Liz Cheney, who is out campaigning for Kamala Harris, is campaigning for my opponent too, and the money is flowing in."
The incumbent senator went on to stress that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D) has made it clear that he, himself, is the Democrats' "number 1 target in the country." "Schumer and Soros and Liz Cheney, they are coming after me because they want to take out their opposition, and they want to have open borders. They want to continue the destruction of our country," Senator Cruz added.
