Abbott Praises Pam Bondi Following Trump's AG Appointment

Politicians around the country are sharing their reactions to President-elect Donald Trump (R) appointing Pam Bondi to be the next United States Attorney General. As the former Florida Attorney General, Pam Bondi has crossed paths with leaders such as Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R), and it seems she has earned their respect.

First, President-elect Trump announced on Truth Social that Bondi would be "Making America Safe Again."

“I am proud to announce former Attorney General of the Great State of Florida, Pam Bondi, as our next Attorney General of the United States. Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on Violent Criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida Families. Then, as Florida’s first female Attorney General, she … did such an incredible job, that I asked her to serve on our Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission during my first Term — We saved many lives!” said Trump.

"For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans — Not anymore," Trump said on Truth Social. "Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again," stated President-elect Trump.

Gov. Abbott spoke highly of Bondi as they both served as attorneys general for their respective states.

“I was the Attorney General of Texas when Pam Bondi was Attorney General of Florida. We collaborated on countless legal matters that improved our states and our country. She will be a steadfast fighter for what is right and restore respect for the rule of law,” said Gov. Abbott.

Furthermore, Sen. Scott stated that he and his wife Ann are excited about their “great friend” in Bondi obtaining the appointment.

“Ann and I are thrilled for our great friend and our next Attorney General Pam Bondi! For 8 years I worked alongside Pam to keep Florida safe, and I’m looking forward to working with her to keep our nation safe!” said Sen. Scott.

In January 2020, Bondi testified before the U.S. Senate and argued against the actions of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden over their dealings with Burisma Holdings in Ukraine.
