Rep. Luttrell Puts 'Veterans First' With new Bills

Texas Rep. Morgan Luttrell (R), a former Navy SEAL, has introduced two bipartisan bills aimed at improving veterans' benefits and streamlining the claims process. Partnering with Kentucky Rep. Morgan McGarvey (D), Luttrell announced the Veterans Compensation Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) Act and the Review Every Veteran’s Claim Act on social media.

“Our veterans have put everything on the line for our country, and it’s our duty to ensure they receive the benefits they’ve earned without unnecessary bureaucratic roadblocks,” Luttrell shared on X.

The Veterans COLA Act would ensure that veterans’ compensation benefits keep pace with inflation, mirroring the cost-of-living adjustments applied to Social Security. This measure is aimed at preventing financial strain on veterans and their families as economic conditions fluctuate.

“The Veterans Compensation Cost of Living Adjustment Act will help keep veterans and their families financially secure by ensuring their benefits keep pace with inflation, just like Social Security,” Luttrell further explained.

Meanwhile, the Review Every Veteran’s Claim Act seeks to address issues within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) claims process. Many veterans face claim denials due to missed VA medical appointments, which can happen for a variety of reasons beyond their control. Luttrell’s bill would require the VA to consider all available evidence before deciding on a veteran’s claim.

“Too many veterans have had their claims denied simply because they couldn’t make a VA appointment,” Rep. Luttrell stated. “The Review Every Veteran’s Claim Act fixes this by requiring the VA to consider the full scope of evidence before making a decision, so no veteran is left behind due to red tape.”

Rep. Luttrell emphasized that both bills are about accountability and ensuring that veterans receive the benefits they have rightfully earned. “I’ll keep working to make sure every veteran gets the benefits they deserve,” he vowed.
