Patrick Announces Re-Election Bid, Trump Endorsement

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R) has officially declared his candidacy for re-election in 2026, vowing to continue advancing the “most conservative agenda in Texas history.” Lt. State Rep. Wes Virdell: "If we are not going to abolish property tax, we need to at least make the property tax based on the land value only before improvements. People should not be financially punished with a tax for improving their own property."
Texas HDC Vice Chair Rep. Mihaela Plesa: "Our Dallas-Fort Worth neighborhood schools are shutting their doors thanks to [Governor Abbott's] budget cuts... disrupting the ties that these neighborhood schools have built over generations."
