Dan Crenshaw Cites Border Crossings Drop 'Faster Than MSNBC Rating'

In a pointed and humor-laced critique of border security under different administrations, Representative Dan Crenshaw (R) drew attention this week with a pointed comment on border security, pairing immigration policy with a media swipe.

“3 months of President Trump and a 94% drop in illegal border crossings,” Crenshaw said. “Numbers dropping faster than MSNBC ratings.”

The quote quickly gained traction among conservatives, both for its statistical claim and its media dig, underscoring a broader narrative that illegal border crossings saw a dramatic decline early in President Donald Trump’s tenure.

Crenshaw’s comments aren’t alone, as they follow a broader republican support of what they describe as the success of Trump’s immigration policies. Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) for example, made recent comments promoting President Trump’s ability to keep the border protected.

“With President Trump now in charge, Texas and the Trump Administration are teaming up to make America safe again.”

Senator John Cornyn (R) has also emphasized that Trump’s approach marked a significant shift in enforcement and results, stating, “Under President Trump’s leadership, illegal border crossings have hit a 25-year low! But liberals are trying to reverse all our progress. Senator Cornyn is committed to standing with President Trump and delivering resources to our border to KEEP TEXAS SAFE.”

The contrast between administrations has been further amplified in the past by former ICE Director Tom Homan, who did not mince words when comparing President Biden’s immigration stance to that of his predecessor. Homan charged that Biden "unsecured the border on purpose," suggesting a deliberate policy reversal. “This isn’t mismanagement. This isn’t incompetence. This is by design,” he asserted.

Looking ahead, Homan expressed confidence in a future Trump return, claiming the job would be “’finished’” come January 20th,” referring to the next potential inauguration day where Trump won the 2024 election.

Crenshaw’s MSNBC quip may have been the attention-grabber but continues to showcase a deeper divide over immigration enforcement. While Trump’s allies cite record-low crossings as proof of effective policy, critics of the Biden administration claim a deliberate dismantling of those measures.
