Mayes Middleton Receives Swarm of Support in AG Race

A coalition of business and conservative leaders have endorsed state Senator Mayes Middleton (R) for Attorney General. In an endorsement letter signed by business executive Emerson Kirksey Hankamer and numerous other high-profile figures, the signers praise state Senator Middleton as a principled and proven conservative leader that is committed to defending Texas values.

“With the current Attorney General vacating his seat next year, we need to unite behind a proven, conservative leader who has grit and will work hard to keep Texas, Texas,” the letter reads. “We, the undersigned below, believe that leader is Mayes Middleton.”

State Senator Middleton, who is a 7th-generation Texan, currently represents District 11 in the Texas Senate. He previously served in the Texas House, and as the letter informs, he has deep ties to Texas’ oil, gas, farming, ranching, and banking industries. Throughout his time in public office, he has earned a reputation for rejecting personal benefits associated with government service.

“Mayes believes in public service, not self-service. Over the past eight years he has rejected the state pension and healthcare and has donated his salary,” the letter states.

The endorsement highlights the state senator’s legislative record on conservative priorities, highlighting him as the top choice for the Lone Star state.

“Mayes has proven himself to be a champion for liberty and justice – just check his voting record,” the letter asserts. “From border security to saving women’s sports, and cutting bureaucratic red tape, he has led the charge and been part of the grassroots conservative movement for years.”

Signers of the letter include influential Texas figures such as philanthropist and former U.S. House candidate Genevieve Collins, oil executive Roger Elswick, Texas Public Policy Foundation President Kevin Roberts, and business leaders J.P. Bryan, Trey Strake, and Will Harte.

“As Attorney General, Mayes will continue to fight for our great state, ensuring prosperity, freedom, and justice for all Texans,” the letter concludes.

After announcing his intention to take after Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), Attorney John Bash (R), who is also vying for the office, welcomed him to the race while also pointing out that “he has no courtroom experience and tried to get rid of the most successful Attorney General in the Nation, General Ken Paxton” in an X post.
