Governor Abbott Signs Texas Bail Reform Bills into Law, Citing Victims' Stories and Public Safety

Governor Greg Abbott (R) signed into law what he called “the strongest bail reform package in Texas history,” during a ceremony held at Crime Stoppers of Houston. Surrounded by legislators, law enforcement, and victims’ families, Abbott emphasized that the new laws aim to close what he described as a “revolving door bail system” that has allowed violent offenders to be released and reoffend while awaiting trial. Senator Cornyn Trails AG Paxton by 22 Points in new Poll — By Texas Politics' Daniel Molina — There’s more troubling news for Senator John Cornyn’s (R) reelection campaign as a new poll finds him trailing Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) by 22 points. The poll, which was conducted May 27th through the 28th by GOP pollster Robert Blizzard for the Educational Freedom Institute, shows Attorney General Paxton with 50% of support against Senator Cornyn’s 28%.
