As the community of Kerr County continues to grapple with the aftermath of devastating floods, Texas leaders have offered heartfelt reflections and prayers for those affected.
Governor Greg Abbott (R) expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers from across the country and around the world.
“Prayer works. Thanks to everybody across the country and across the globe who have prayed for the people of Texas during this very challenging time. So many of those prayers have been answered,” Abbott said. “As the Bible teaches, pray with thanksgiving to God.”
Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R) acknowledged the deep sorrow facing families who have suffered losses in the disaster.
“The tragedy in central Texas is truly heartbreaking. I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose my daughter. It is a horrific thought,” Crenshaw said. “Yet that’s the heartbreaking reality many families are facing right now in the ongoing tragedy at Camp Mystic and along the Guadalupe River.”
Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R) emphasized the ongoing efforts to locate and rescue survivors. “Search and rescue continues to be our number one priority. Please continue to pray for the families affected by this tragedy.”
Amid the rescue efforts, Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer Scott Ruskin has been credited with saving 165 victims during the flood.
Senator Ted Cruz praised Ruskin’s heroism, stating, “Thank God for American heroes.”
The community and officials alike continue to rally support for those impacted in the floods. Texas leaders continue urging prayers and caution as search and rescue operations proceed.
