Claudia Sheinbaum Rejects Trump's Offer of US Military Intervention Against Cartels

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has rejected Trump’s offer of US military intervention to strike at Mexican cartels.

Earlier this year, Trump offered a similar proposal but was quickly denied by Sheinbaum. Trump responded by alluding to Mexico’s president as being fearful of the cartels.

In a press conference this week, President Sheinbaum spoke about conversations she’s had with President Trump and the numerous times he’s offered US military intervention. However, Sheinbaum rejects direct military involvement.

She says that “they [the United States] can help us with information they have, but that we operate in our territory, that we do not accept any intervention by a foreign government.”

In an interview with Texas Politics, Dan Crenshaw (R) called out Congress for their inaction. Creshaw explained that funds are necessary to support the Trump administration in “a Mexican counterterrorism operation.”

Efforts to place harsher US military action within Mexico’s borders have fallen flat.

During a recent interviewing the Oval Office, President Trump expressed that he is “not happy with Mexico.”

“Would I launch strikes in Mexico to stop drugs?” he questioned. “OK with me, whatever we have to do to stop drugs.”

As of right now, President Sheinbaum is accepting no foreign military intervention in Mexican affairs.
