Governor Greg Abbott (R) has issued a sharp warning to Representative Jasmine Crockett (D) as she prepares to announce whether she will enter the 2026 U.S. Senate Race, saying her progressive politics will not translate beyond her Dallas-area district.
"Jasmine Crocket [is] about to learn the hard way that most Texans are very different from her district, her base, and her values," Abbott shared on social media. "She'll be pummeled for her progressive socialist agenda and get crushed by the Republican nominee for Senate."
Abbott added that Texas politics is "filled with blowhards like her who have no idea what it's like to run statewide," noting that he looks forward to "watching the circus."
He also suggested, "On the bright side for her, maybe she'll end up with a job on The View."
Crockett is weighing a Senate run after facing difficult decisions about her U.S. House future under the GOP-drawn redistricting map approved for the 2026 cycle. She is expected to announce her plans today at 5:30 p.m. ET, ahead of the state's filing deadline that evening.
Now in her second term, Crockett has built a reputation as a progressive firebrand, gaining national visibility through her social media presence and frequent high-profile clashes during House Oversight Committee hearings.
A Senate run would mark her first statewide campaign in Texas, a political battleground where Democrats have not won a statewide office in three decades.
