In a rare interview, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has openly stated that President Donald Trump will play a major role in helping Republicans win the 2026 midterm election in hopes of retaining and adding to the slim majority they hold in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Wiles, who is credited with not only helping President Trump win reelection but also helping past candidates like Sen. Rick Scott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis win past elections, told The Mom View that she hasn't "broken it to him yet" about her plans for him in 2024. Wiles was recently honored by the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) for the role she has played in framing the current political climate and structure in Florida.
It is a safe bet that President Trump now knows.
"He's gonna have a fun next year, but we're going to put him on the campaign trail too," said Wiles, adding that," because so many of the low propensity voters are Trump voters," it is necessary for him to be on the campaign trail and campaign like it's 2024 again."
Republicans recently fell short in recent elections because Trump was not on the ballot, but according to Wiles, because Trump is such a "difference maker" and "turn-out Machine," the conventional wisdom of staying out of many races by a sitting president will be thrown out the window.
Wiles also reiterated that the White House's focus was to keep the majority in the House of Representatives, adding that Trump was "sitting on a huge war chest" and was ready to use it, and quite possibly use his own money to help defeat Democrats on election night.
"Midterms will be very important to us. He'll work very hard to keep the majority," said Wiles. "He's sitting on a huge war chest to help these people, and he'll use it."
The House Democratic Party's position appears to be very clear, as recent remarks by certain members of the caucus have signaled that they are focused on driving an impeachment narrative, and if they win the majority in the lower chamber, they would look to impeach Trump.
"President Trump is the greatest driver of turnout in election history; having him on the trail will help Republicans, all Americans, win in 2026," said Rep. Byron Donalds in response to The Floridian's request for comment.
Rep. Donalds, along with many other Republican elected officials and candidates for office, would benefit from a 2024-style Trump campaign trail effort.
The Republican National Committee (RNC), which is led by Florida State Senator Joe Gruters, has also expressed its support for helping retain the majority in Congress.
