Scott LoBaido Creates America’s Largest Oil Painting of the American Flag on Canvas

(Washington DC) As America celebrates its 250th Anniversary, renowned patriotic artist Scott LoBaido is creating what is believed to be the largest oil painting of the American flag on canvas in the United States.

Featured in Newsweek, the piece of art titled “Forever”, is a 9-foot by 17-foot work being painted live inside the Made in America Pavilion at the Great American State Fair through July 10 on 9th and Madison.

Since the fair opened on June 25, visitors have watched the painting come to life one brushstroke at a time, with hundreds of thousands expected to experience the project in person and millions more following its progress through television, digital platforms, and news coverage.

Unlike most works of art, “Forever” is not simply being displayed, it is being created before the public during one of the nation’s most historic celebrations.

Created during America’s Semiquincentennial, the painting represents LoBaido’s most ambitious artistic undertaking and is expected to become the defining work of his career. For more than three decades, LoBaido has used his art to honor the American flag, military service members, veterans, first responders, and the ideals of freedom that unite the nation.

“I paint the American flag not because of what it represents to me alone, but because of what generations of Americans have sacrificed to preserve for us all,” LoBaido said.

As the painting nears completion, attention is beginning to turn to its next chapter: finding a permanent home worthy of its historic significance. Whether it ultimately resides in a museum, a patriotic institution, a major American corporation, the White House, or a distinguished private collection, “Forever” is intended to become more than a work of art, it is meant to serve as a lasting tribute to the American spirit. No asking price has been established, but the painting has already generated interest from collectors, institutions, corporations, and patriotic organizations.
