Beth Van Duyne Condemns Omar Suleiman After Celebrating Lindsey Graham's Death

Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (R) introduced a House resolution condemning Omar Suleiman after comments he made following the death of Senator Lindsey Graham (R).

The resolution also honors Graham's public service and notes Suleiman's previous role as a guest chaplain in the House of Representatives.

Resolution targets Omar Suleiman

Rep. Van Duyne, joined by members of the Republican Study Committee and more than two dozen House Republicans, introduced a resolution condemning comments made by Omar Suleiman following the death of Sen. Graham.

According to Van Duyne, Suleiman, a founder and president of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research in Irving, Texas, posted on social media after Graham's death that he hoped the senator would "live an eternity in ruins."

The resolution also notes that House Democrats invited Suleiman to serve as a guest chaplain in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2019.

Van Duyne's response

Rep. Beth Van Duyne: "Omar Suleiman's response to Senator Lindsey Graham's death was not merely tasteless, it was depraved... That is not compassion. It is not faith. It is the language of hatred from a man who presents himself as a religious leader."

Honor Senator Lindsey Graham's public service.
Express gratitude for Graham's work on U.S. foreign policy and national security.
Recognize his support for the U.S.-Israel relationship.
Condemn Omar Suleiman's comments following Graham's death.
Express support for House Republicans' efforts to raise awareness about what the resolution describes as the dangers of Sharia law and its compatibility with American constitutional governance and individual liberty.
