Waste Energy Secures Approval for Midland Waste Tire Processing Facility

Waste Energy Corp. has received regulatory approval from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for its Midland facility, marking the company's first major milestone toward launching a waste tire processing campus and expanding its waste conversion operations across Texas.

Foundation for future expansion

Waste Energy said the Midland site serves as the foundation for its broader strategy of developing waste conversion infrastructure across Texas.

The company plans to pursue additional permits and regulatory approvals as it expands the facility's processing capabilities and develops future locations.

Issued under Title 30 of the Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 328, the approval is valid for five years, extending through July 2031.

According to the company, the approval follows approximately one year of:

  • Site planning.
  • Engineering and design.
  • Regulatory coordination.
  • Application preparation.
  • Financial assurance and closure planning required by TCEQ.

Company sees strategic value.

Waste Energy said obtaining permits for new waste infrastructure is a lengthy and capital-intensive process, making properly permitted facilities increasingly valuable as waste tire volumes continue to grow.

The company believes the approval significantly reduces development risk while increasing the value of its Midland operation.

CEO calls approval a defining milestone

Chairman and CEO Scott Gallagher described the approval as one of the company's most significant achievements.

CEO Scott Gallagher: "This is a defining moment for Waste Energy and one of the most consequential accomplishments in our Company's history."

Gallagher said the company is now positioned to move closer to accepting waste tire feedstock, commissioning the facility, and beginning revenue-generating operations.

Waste conversion strategy

Waste Energy develops environmental infrastructure that diverts waste tires from landfills and converts them into marketable products and commodities.

The company said its long-term strategy centers on building a portfolio of permitted waste conversion facilities designed to capitalize on increasing demand for waste tire recycling and disposal alternatives.

The Bottom Line

Waste Energy has secured TCEQ approval for its Midland, Texas facility, clearing a key regulator hurdle as the company advances plans for its first waste tire conversion campus and positions itself for future expansion across the state.
