Since the initial rise of the coronavirus in the United States, President Trump has maintained that the Trump administration has been accurately monitoring and combating the virus from spreading.
As the administration looks to open up the country’s economy, saying that the virus has been controlled as a response to the administration’s actions, two administration officials have signaled that the government could be gearing up to donate ventilators to Africa, noting that it could be a determining factor in saving lives in the continent.
No plan has been officially announced, but this is also a move that comes during a time when China is involved in efforts to gain diplomatic dominance across the continent.
The President has heavily criticized China for their handling of the coronavirus and not reporting accurate information regarding people infected and people dying of COVID-19.
One of the nations that would be open to the effort is the nation of Cameroon, which has partnered with the United States on battling Boko Haram. As well, they are serving as an important military partner in the continent.
