Democrats Failing to Win Over Rural Texas with their Socialist Agenda

As the 2020 presidential election continues to simmer in the politics of division, Democrats set their gaze toward Texas, one problem abounds. Democrats’ attempts to flip Texas blue are being thwarted by a red wall in rural Texas where their socialist agenda is deeply unpopular.

The Biden/Harris agenda promises massive tax hikes and higher energy bills, government control of healthcare that will destroy rural hospitals, bad trade deals, illegal immigration.

This phenomenon is also playing out in the Senate race where Democratic nominee MJ Hegar is pushing a dangerous slew of policies that would cripple the local economy in towns across Texas.

In Texas’ 10th congressional district, the district represented by Congressman Michael McCaul, Democratic candidate Mike Siegel is said to be “the most radical liberal running for Congress in America.” In a district covering Austin, Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette, Lee, Waller and Washington counties, Siegel is pushing a socialist agenda that would destroy job opportunities, raise taxes, and harm healthcare access.

His proposed Green New Deal would significantly increase electricity costs by entirely eliminating any nonrenewable energy and require thousands of miles of new high-voltage transmission lines across the rural parts of the state. Rep. Michael McCaul’s campaign manager Evan Albertson noted: “Siegel is more comfortable spending time with his comrades in California than he is with ranchers and farmers in rural Texas, so it’s no wonder that he’s running to impose his radical ideology without concern for the devastating impact his policies would have on rural communities across the state.”

The Democratic National Convention was a window into the Democrats’ disconnect from the everyday American. The Democrats will have to do more than trot out a couple of Hollywood celebrities in order to flip a large enough share of the millions of rural Texans that they need to take Texas.
