Washington— Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives are fuming after Speaker Nancy Pelosi instituted a mask mandate rule on the floor of the House, a move that has led to verbal altercations between Republican and Democratic lawmakers.

Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) was overheard stating, “this mask bullshit has got to stop” as he walked into the chamber to vote on Wednesday, and fellow Texan, Rep. Pat Fallon (R) stated that he would pay the fines than wear the “damn mask.”

Rep. Pat Fallon made his case outside of the House chamber, questioning why members even had to wear a mask on the floor of the House.

“Why are we wearing masks in there,” asked Fallon. “We should be showing leadership to encourage people. I want people to get vaccinated.”

Fallon added that Speaker Pelosi was once again politicizing the pandemic and that the “Science” showed that members did not have to wear a mask while in the chamber.

We’re regressing. This is political. It’s fear, it’s not science. If you follow Science, in that chamber, we shouldn’t be wearing masks,” concluded Fallon. “I’m paying the fines, I’m not wearing the damn mask.”

Hours earlier, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R) got into a heated shouting match with Rep. Jared Huffman (D) over the mask mandate. Rep. Huffman refused to get into the same elevator with Rep. Donalds because Donalds was not wearing a mask.

The two men then ran into each other moments later and that’s when the sparks flew.
