Texas Congressman Land Key Power Shifting Committee Assignments

Speaker of House Kevin McCarthy (R) has announced a new list of members of various committees that he says will "shift power back to the American People.

These committees include the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, House Committee on Rules, and the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the U.S. and the Chinese Communist Party.

In a tweet, Speaker McCarthy stated, “Under Dem control, House committees were used to target political opponents and reward allies at the expense of addressing the country's concerns. That ends now. These Republican members will work to shift power back to the American people through their respective committees.”

A few of the new members made statements regarding their newly appointed positions.

Representative Austin Scott (GA-08):

"I’m honored to have been selected to serve on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence by Speaker McCarthy and work to ensure the safety and security of our nation and the free world."

Representative Dan Crenshaw (TX-02):

"I’m grateful to have been chosen to serve on @HouseIntel. I’m eager to get to work addressing the always-evolving national security challenges of the United States, & working to support the hardworking members of our intelligence community."

Representative Tom Cole (OK-04)"

I am delighted to welcome a diverse slate of @HouseGOP members to @RulesReps. I look forward to working together to restore regular order, ensure thorough debate & ultimately advance real American priorities to the House floor.

Representative Michael Burgess (TX-26)—"It is an honor to continue to serve on @RulesReps. Let’s get to work!"

Rep. Carlos Giménez (FL-28)  stated that he  was"honored to have been chosen to serve on the US House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the US & the Chinese Communist Party."

"Looking forward to working with @RepGallagher to address the challenges presented by the #CCP & its unscrupulous tactics," added Rep. Gimenez.

Investigating China seems to be a top priority for the committee, it will be interesting to see what new policies result from their meetings.
