Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) recently announced his disapproval of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new rules proposing that two-thirds of new vehicles and a quarter of heavy trucks sold in the U.S. be electric by 2032.
President Joe Biden’s (D) environmental policies have been a major talking point for his administration and many American citizens. This recent bill is another attempt to approach the problem of climate change.
Sen. Cruz stated that the Biden administration’s new rules would cause American families to pay more money.
“Once again, the Biden Administration is imposing higher costs on American families, following California’s radical push to ban gas powered vehicles,” stated Sen. Cruz.
According to the Texas senator’s statement, the rising prices would be a direct result of the Biden administration’s proposed new implementations.
“The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proudly projects that its proposed rule would effectively require two-thirds of vehicle sales to be electric, resulting in higher prices, added stress on the power grid, and greater reliance on China for imports.”
Sen. Cruz expressed his thoughts, believing that the new rules for the EPA would set a precedent for other organizations such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
“I’m concerned that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will follow suit and issue similar irrational regulations, given this Administration’s preference for Governor Newsom’s radical agenda,” stated Cruz.
The Texas lawmaker, whose recent political battles have included education and the Internal Revenue System (IRS), has been critical of Pres. Biden’s (D) presidency.
When speaking of his State of the Union address, he stated, “It was unfortunately divisive, angry, and dishonest. And it was disconnected from the challenges facing the American people.”
Cruz’s disappointment is wide-ranging and is aimed at Pres. Biden’s policies and disposition.
“When Joe Biden stands up and says he wants to secure the southern border, that is nothing but a laugh-line because he spent two years undermining security at the border,” said the Senator.
One of the more recent criticisms Cruz directed toward Biden was in regard to his handling of the “Chinese spy balloon”.
“I thought it was unfortunate when he says that ‘America’s enemies are weaker today, and he’s standing up to China,” said Cruz.
