Texas Representative Pete Sessions (R) introduced new healthcare legislation, the Health Care Fairness for All Act. The bill also known as H.R. 3129 is intended to reform the health care system.

In a tweet, Rep. Sessions gave a brief recap of what the bill includes.

“My Health Care Fairness for All Act gives Americans more control, lower prices, and less hassle by: Reforming federal health tax subsidies, Offering a tax-advantaged health savings account. Removing barriers between patients and doctors,” said Rep. Sessions.

The Texas lawmaker pointed to the state of the current healthcare system as a problem.

“Our current health care system puts countless American families and individuals in no-win circumstances, forcing high costs and little choice,” said the congressman.

Rep. Sessions’s statement emphasized the need for a better healthcare system.

The Health Care Fairness for All Act will empower Americans to make effective decisions for themselves and their families while incentivizing private markets to be more innovative and competitive. Our country should have a health care system that reflects its founding principles of freedom and opportunity.”

The new legislation is intended to make healthcare more affordable and suitable for American families.

“We are proud to endorse this bill because it offers American families a Personal Option in health care — sensible reforms that ensure lower prices, less hassle, and more personal choice and control, without new taxes,” said Dean Clancy, Senior Health Policy Fellow at Americans for Prosperity.

In the new healthcare proposal, Americans will be able to customize their plans to fit their needs.

The Healthcare Fairness for All Act will make health care dramatically fairer by giving every American access to a generous new subsidy that lets you tailor your health benefits to your individual needs — and then take them with you when you change jobs. It will make health care dramatically more affordable in three key ways.”

The 3 tenets of the bill aim to make healthcare much simpler for everyday Americans.

“First, it funds patients rather than insurance companies. Second, it empowers every American to shop for value with a tax-advantaged health savings account. And third, it removes needless barriers between patients and innovative, life-saving care delivered by the medical professionals they trust.”

Current plans will not be eradicated if the bill were to be passed, instead, Americans are able to choose which plan they want.

“Importantly, it preserves existing safety-net programs and protects people with pre-existing conditions. Under this bill, if you like your current health coverage, you can keep it. But if you want lower prices, more freedom, and fairness for all — this bill's for you.”

Rep. Sessions’s legislation has support from various individuals and business owners.

The Health Care Fairness for All Act is a much needed transformation of the U.S. health care system,” said John Goodman, President and CEO of the Goodman Institute.

“Americans should get the health care they need, when they need it, and from the providers that meet their needs. For millions of Americans, health insurance is unaffordable and inaccessible,” said Goodman.

Goodman continued his statement, laying out how the purchasing of healthcare could work under the Health Care Fairness for All Act.

“The Health Care Fairness for All Act will give each American citizen access to a refundable, advanceable, and assignable health tax credit to be used to purchase health insurance, buy medical care, and make deposits to a Health Savings Account.”

Sessions and the bill’s supporters hope that the bill helps families across the country.

“This bill will free the health care marketplace to meet the different needs of different families, and provide health care financial support to every individual, including the uninsured.”

Texas Representative Joaquin Castro’s (D) amended bill targeting fentanyl trafficking has officially been passed by the House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC). In a statement, Rep. Castro took to Twitter to share the details behind why the bill was introduced.

The San Antonio native shared his desire to stop fentanyl trafficking throughout the country.

“Our fight against fentanyl trafficking shouldn’t end at the U.S.-Mexico border,” said Rep. Castro.
