Texas Representative Wesley Hunt (R) released a statement containing his response to the indictment of former president Donald Trump (R).
“STATEMENT FROM CONGRESSMAN HUNT ON THE BIDEN DOJ INDICTMENT OF PRESIDENT TRUMP
On the very same day the FBI agreed to allow members of the Oversight Committee to review documents tying Joe Biden to a $5 Million bribery scheme with a foreign national, President Trump is informed that he will be indicted by Biden’s DOJ,” stated Rep. Hunt.
The Texas representative continued to spout his theory that Trump’s arraignment was a form of distraction from the current president.
“Coincidence? You don’t still believe those exist under this administration, do you? I know that we live in a news cycle today that can be difficult to keep up with.”
Rep. Hunt attempted to equate President Joe Biden’s (D) possession of documents to Trump’s possession of classified documents.
“So allow me to remind those who may have forgotten that it was Joe Biden who was illegally in possession of numerous boxes of classified material he obtained both as a United States Senator, and as Vice President. Neither one of those offices afforded him the authority to declassify the material.”
On November 2, 2022, Pres. Biden’s attorney found that he had possession of classified documents. It was later revealed to be around 20 in total. However, Biden willingly gave information to investigators, in contrast to Trump, who had 325 classified documents.
“In the face of this glaring irony, I wonder, is it ignorance that drives Biden’s DOJ to charge Trump over classified material, or is it hubris? Biden, Garland, and this entire administration have become drunk with power and they will pursue every avenue available to them to destroy Donald Trump, even if it means taking an open flame to the Constitution.”
Rep. Hunt took issue with the idea that Trump’s indictment should remove him from presidential consideration.
“Last night, one of the candidates running for the GOP nomination, demanded that the GOP not pledge support to a nominee if they are found guilty of this specific charge, and that if President Trump is the subject of an ongoing investigation then he should step aside.”
The Texas congressman then called for those who don’t oppose the recent decisions by the federal government to withdraw from the election.
“I have another idea. If the candidates running for the GOP nomination do NOT swiftly denounce the weaponization of the federal government to destroy Joe Biden’s top political opponent, then they should step aside.”
Hunt went on to give his thoughts on Trump’s rhetoric and even made references to conspiracies.
“Donald J. Trump represents an existential threat to the status quo, a system that has failed America, and to the most unpopular, unqualified, and unfit President to hold this office in a century. That’s why this election interference persists."
The Texas lawmaker stated that he was not going to turn his allegiance from Trump.
“We the people will not be deterred, we the people will not be fooled, and we the people will continue to stand firm in support of a man who has sacrificed everything to restore our nation to the glory she deserves.”
Hunt ended his statement by sharing his belief that Trump would win the Republican primary.
“Tuesday will be yet another soiled chapter in the great American decline, but it's always darkest before the dawn, and the dawn is coming. That’s what they’re most afraid of.”
“America, President Trump will be the Republican Nominee.”

Trump is slated to be arraigned on June 13, 2023.
Recently, Texas Representative Sylvia Garcia took to Twitter to bring awareness to National Gun Violence Awareness Month to express her desire to end gun violence.
“Guns are the leading cause of death for children and teens in the United States, according to the CDC,” stated Rep. Garcia.
“During National Gun Violence Awareness Month, we must continue to call out those who fail to take action on gun violence that will keep our children safe.”
The CDC reports showed an all-time high of gun-related deaths totaling 45,222 lives lost. The new data revealed “a sharp 13.5% increase in the crude rate of firearm-related death from 2019 to 2020.”
“From 2019 to 2020, the relative increase in the rate of firearm-related deaths of all types (suicide, homicide, unintentional, and undetermined) among children and adolescents was 29.5% — more than twice as high as the relative increase in the general population,” said the CDC.
