After the terrorist organization Hamas’ surprise attack against Israel, the country has responded with drastic measures in order to secure the country and retake the Gaza Strip. Here’s an updated look at the Israel-Hamas War.

In the initial attack, Hamas took several Israeli citizens hostage and killed many of the captives. Along with the deaths of the Israeli citizens, the group of terrorists is responsible for the deaths of nine American citizens, as well.

Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant stated that the country would cut off the electricity, food, water and fuel of the Gaza region. Gallant has stated that the region will be under “complete siege”.

The fight is proving to be extremely deadly as hundreds continue to be killed in the war. According to the Israeli Health Ministry, Hamas has killed over 700 people in Israel and injured over 2,500 people.

Hamas claims to have over 100 hostages in Gaza. Among the hostages are civilians—including children—and, according to the chief deputy of Hamas’ political bureau, some high-ranking Israeli army officials.

Israel is requesting precision-guided bombs as well as additional interceptors for the Iron Dome.

The attacks come amid an interesting time for Netanyahu. Earlier in the year, the Israeli prime minister faced large swaths of criticisms for his alleged interference in the overhauling of the Israeli supreme court.

In other news, Congress has officially voted to remove California Representative Kevin McCarthy (R) from his position as Speaker of the House after Florida Representative Matt Gaetz (R) filed a motion against him.

The position was declared vacant after Congress reached a 216-210 vote. Many House Republicans voted to keep Rep. McCarthy but the combination of the group of often-dissenting Republicans known as the “Freedom Caucus” and House Democrats was too much to overcome for those in favor of McCarthy.
