Dan Crenshaw
After news outlets reported that an Israeli air strike has killed hundreds of Palestinians at a Gaza City hospital, tension begins to boil between Republicans and Democrats. With President Joe Biden (D) denouncing the air strike, Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) has taken to social media to denounce the reports as “fake news.” Crenshaw argues that the Gaza airstrike was in fact “Hamas rockets misfired.”
Taking to social media, Crenshaw shared screenshots from various news outlets reporting on the airstrike, including Reuters and CNN. President Biden has addressed the bombing, releasing a statement condemning it.
“I am outraged and deeply saddened by the explosion at the Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza, and the terrible loss of life that resulted,” the president said.
“The United States stands unequivocally for the protection of civilian life during conflict and we mourn the patients, medical staff and other innocents killed or wounded in this tragedy,” Biden added.
However, Crenshaw is now responding to the reports, expressing that “these are all the news outlets that just assumed Israel would bomb a civilian hospital. Israel did not do that. Hamas rockets misfired. Even Palestinian and Arab news outlets reported it.”
Crenshaw has called on the president to confirm that Hamas rockets misfired, adding that he should “also confirm unwavering support for Israel’s defense.”
He explained that “It must be clear that Hezbollah and Iran will suffer severe consequences if they begin a multi-front attack. If Biden does not make that clear and does not deter them, the chances of a far more serious war are greatly increased.”
According to the Gaza Health Ministry as reported by the Associated Press, an estimated 500 people were killed in the explosion.
