Texas Rep. Chip Roy (R) and Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) are now engaging in a back and forth. The exchange between Greene comes after Roy voted to table the resolution to censure Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D).
Rep. Greene introduced the resolution last week, accusing Rep. Tlaib of “antisemitic activity, sympathizing with terrorist organizations, and leading an insurrection at the United States Capitol Complex.” However, despite her call for censuring Tlaib, Roy joined 22 other Republicans in voting to table the resolution.
Defending his vote, Roy released a statement on X, writing that “Rep. Rashida Tlaib has repeatedly made outrageous remarks toward Israel and the Jewish people. Her conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress and certainly worthy of condemnation – if not censure. However, tonight’s feckless resolution to censure Tlaib was deeply flawed and made legally and factually unverified claims, including the claim of leading an ‘insurrection.’”
Not accepting the defense, Greene took to social media to accuse Roy of voting to kick her out of the Freedom Caucus, arguing that the Freedom Caucus includes “CNN wannabe” and Colorado Rep. Ken Buck (R) and “vaping groping” and Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebart (R).
“You voted with the Democrats to protect Terrorist Tlaib,” Greene continued. “You hate Trump, certified Biden’s election, and could care less about J6 defendants being persecuted.”
Roy responded to her comments by telling Greene “to go chase so-called Jewish space lasers,” citing controversial comments she’s made in the past, but Greene was quick to respond, calling Roy “Colonel Sanders.”
“Chip Roy’s career exist of working for politicians, working for campaigns for politicians, and being a politician himself,” she countered. “Unity Party all the way! Which is why you will never hold anyone accountable.”
Greene now finds herself on the receiving end of a resolution to censure her as Vermont Rep. Becca Balint (D) has introduced a resolution, accusing Greene of fanning “the flames of racism, antisemitism, hate speech against the LGBTQ community, Islamaphobia, Asian hate, Xenophobia, and other forms of hatred.”
