In a statement, Rep. Garcia characterized Texas Governor Greg Abbott's actions as “extreme”, as well as listing him as a MAGA Republican.
“This is barbaric and inhumane - Governor Abbott's heartless anti-immigrant policies prey on vulnerable children seeking asylum in the United States. These extreme MAGA Republicans are following Trump’s extreme anti-immigrant agenda by putting the lives of migrant children at risk. I call on the Department of Justice to investigate these cruel actions toward migrants,” said Rep. Garcia.
“As the year comes to a close we embark on a new journey. May 2024 bring you happiness, good health, countless beautiful moments to cherish. Happy New Year from all of us at Team Hunt!” said Rep. Hunt.

The Texas congressman focused much of the year on the border, the economy and legislation passed by the Biden administration. As the year continued, Hunt became very focused on the Israel-Hamas war.
“Another day…Another American Hostage Crisis,” tweeted Rep. Hunt.
The Texas representative’s tweet was accompanied by a video from a CNN news segment. In the video, the anchor stated that multiple U.N. officials have told them that it is unlikely that hostage negotiations would resume anytime soon.
The White House released info showing that there is one American woman and seven men unaccounted for after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel. U.S. National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, stated that “securing the hostages' release is of paramount priority.”
Hamas' deadly attack on Israel resulted in multiple casualties totaling at least 1,200 people. Israel has responded in a strong format and has bombed the northern Gaza region. After a truce that lasted multiple days, Israel and Hamas have resumed their war. Israel has begun bombing the southern Gaza region as they continue to complete their mission of eradicating Hamas.
