Representative Pete Sessions (R-TX) made a trip down to the southern border along with a large number of his Republican colleagues in the house, including Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
The Texas congressman spoke on the problems that law enforcement faces at the border, as well as the repercussions that plague American society due to uncontrolled illegal immigration.

“We heard firsthand and saw firsthand not only the problems that are on the border, but [from] the men and women who are here to protect our country … Our sheriffs that were here told the story, the story that they told was one of how they’re outmanned, outgunned, and how the drug cartels control not just the border, but the money that comes,” said Rep. Sessions.
He continued, relaying that the problems at the border go beyond the massive numbers of people simply coming into the country, but rather how it is making the cartels rich and posing national security risks in the process.
“It was made very plain and obvious to us that the money that the cartels make by moving people across this border is enriching them and putting American lives at risk,” Rep. Sessions said. “Not just lives at risk because of fentanyl and other drugs, but because of national security also.”
Sessions praised the State of Texas and its attempts to seal the border as well as the 12 other states that have tried to help, while simultaneously blasting President Joe Biden (D) and his administration for their neglect of the issue.
“To come down and see firsthand … the manipulation that is taking place. The cat and mouse game that happens and how the State of Texas through Governor Abbott and our Colonel who heads up the Department of Public Safety, Steve McGraw are utilizing the best interests that we can find of law enforcement from 12 other states to do the job that Joe Biden has decided the federal government will yield on,” said Sessions.
In his conclusion, Sessions said to be on the lookout for Republicans to “take action soon” once they arrive in Washington at the end of the holiday recess.
